Alwin H. Küchler

Alwin H. Küchler , also English speaking Alwin Kuchler (* 1965 in Düsseldorf ) is a German cameraman .

Career

Alwin H. Küchler began his career as an assistant to a fashion photographer .

After helping his friend Jakob Claussen filming a study project, he became interested in camera work. From 1990 to 1994 he studied camera science at the National Film and Television School (NFTS). During his studies he met Lynne Ramsay , for whom he shot several short films and in 1999 with the drama Ratcatcher , his first feature film as a cameraman.

For both his camera work on Morvern Callar and Code 46 , he was in 2002 and 2004 as Best Cinematographer each for a European Film Award nomination.

Private life

Küchler has been married to the director Ngozi Onwurah since 1998 , whom he met while studying at the NFTS. The couple have a daughter and a son.
