European Film Award 2004

The 17th European Film Prize was awarded on December 11, 2004 in Barcelona . With the film Gegen die Wand , a German film won the main prize for the second time in a row (after Good Bye, Lenin! ).

The big loser of the evening was the Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar , who missed out on La mala Educación ( Bad Education ) despite five nominations. The 72-year-old Spanish director Carlos Saura was honored for his life's work . As an important pioneer for European cinema, the Norwegian actress Liv Ullmann was honored as (“European contribution to world cinema”).
