José Luis Alcaine

José Luis Alcaine (born December 26, 1938 in Tangier , Morocco ) is a Spanish cameraman .

Life

Since the mid-1960s he has participated in more than 140 productions. He works primarily for Spanish film productions. Since the late 1980s he has worked frequently with Pedro Almodóvar .

Alcaine, who was the first cameraman to use fluorescent tubes as light sources in the 1970s, was awarded the 2006 European Film Prize for Best Camera. He won the Goya five times in the Best Camera category and was nominated for this award twelve times.

In 2017 he was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.
