Look at me! (Original title: Comme une image ) is a French comedy film from 2004 .

action

The film tells the story of four people, each struggling with their own problems and their attempts to solve them. On the one hand, there is the young Lolita Cassard, a talented singer, who, however, has great inferiority complexes with regard to her figure because she doesn't look like all the models from the fashion magazines. Her father, the famous writer Étienne Cassard, thinks he is too old and unloved, which is why he can hardly stand by his daughter. The young aspiring writer Pierre Millet no longer believes in his success and is utterly desperate. However, his wife Sylvia Millet firmly believes in him. When she learns that Lolita is the daughter of the writer she admires, Étienne, she seizes the opportunity and befriends her to open doors for her husband. She gets to know Lolita better.

criticism

“A series of emotional dependencies and needs is set in motion. Solidly told social satire from the Parisian intellectual milieu spiced with pointed dialogues. The duo Jaoui / Bacri once again presents a snappy, humorous contemporary 'comédie humaine'. "

“After the remarkable debut Lust auf Other , Agnès Jaoui inspires again with a colorful dance taken from real life, which is sometimes witty and sometimes dramatic. The sensitive figure drawing and the sometimes quite satirical view of the self-love of Parisian intellectuals entertains friends of warm-hearted comedies from France. "

“Of the fact that bad moods are taken for granted: Agnès Jaoui precisely stages everyday embarrassments in the comedy Schau mich an . [...] Somewhat hidden under humorous individual observations, Schau mich an ultimately tells of a slow disillusionment - and with it again of a great feeling. "

Awards

The German Film and Media Assessment FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the rating particularly valuable.
