European University Film Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European University Film Award (EUFA) has been awarded as part of the European Film Prize since 2016 and is based on an initiative of the European Film Academy (EFA) and the Hamburg Film Festival .

Based on the official shortlist of feature films and documentaries for the European Film Awards, a committee of experts will select five European films from five countries. The nominated films will be discussed at European universities in various European countries, with each institution then choosing its favorite. A representative from each university takes part in a multi-day meeting where the overall winner is determined. The aim is to involve a younger audience, to spread the European idea, to convey the spirit of European cinema and to promote a culture of discussion. In 2016, 13 universities from 13 countries took part, in 2017 there were 20 universities, and in 2018 there are 23 universities.
