Marco Malvaldi (born January 27, 1974 in Pisa ) is an Italian crime writer. He was best known for his series about the barista Massimo.

biography

Marco Malvaldi's actual job is a chemist. He studied theoretical chemistry and obtained his doctorate from the University of Pisa . At first he worked in Pisa and at the University of Groningen . He passed the time in the breaks at work writing crime novels. When he was successful, he left university and opened his own laboratory.

His first novel with the owner of the BarLume Massimo Viviani, who is involuntarily involved in solving a murder case, was published in 2007. In the shadow of the Pineta is set in the fictional town of Pineta on the Tuscan coast. Malvaldi continues the series about the barista and his four elderly regulars and since 2011 has also been writing other crime comedies with other protagonists. The Nightingale's Nest , a historical thriller from the 19th century, won the Premio Castiglioncello and the Premio Isola d'Elba Raffaello Brignetti. The author himself was awarded the Isola d'Elba literature prize “La Tore” in 2013.

The series I delitti del BarLume with Filippo Timi in the lead role was filmed for Italian television and is based on Malvaldi's novels.
