Barista is a job title for someone who is responsible for preparing coffee in an espresso bar or a café.

Barista (m., F.) Is the Italian word for bartender (theker), the plural is baristi (m.) Or bariste (f.). The term was initially adopted into English, with the meaning shifting slightly. While a barista in Italy serves all kinds of drinks, in the English-speaking world this is used to describe someone who - mainly in coffee shops - prepares and serves drinks based on espresso. With this meaning, the term was finally adopted into the German vocabulary. A barista often also masters the " latte art ", whereby a cappuccino with a pattern is created when the frothed milk is poured into the espresso. For his field of activity, a barista needs knowledge of coffee types, coffee roasting, the operation and maintenance of espresso machines and coffee grinders, frothing milk and other things. This knowledge can be acquired in appropriate courses.
