Eleni Karaindrou

Eleni Karaindrou ( Greek Ελένη Καραΐνδρου ; born November 25, 1941 in Tichio Doridas, today part of the municipality of Efpali , Fokida , Central Greece ) is a Greek composer .

Eleni Karaindrou was born in the mountain village of Tichio and grew up in Athens . She studied at the Athens Conservatory piano and music theory, as well as at the local university history and archeology. From 1969 to 1974 she continued her education in Paris at the Sorbonne (folk music) and the Schola Cantorum (composition). Back in Greece, she founded the Laboratory for Traditional Instruments at the ORA Cultural Center. She has been composing theater and film music since 1975.

From 1982 she worked with the Greek director Theo Angelopoulos , who died in 2012 . Your film scores add significantly to the artistic impact of this director's films. At the 1989 Venice International Film Festival she was a member of the jury.
