Eternity and a Day ( Greek Μια αιωνιότητα και μια μέρα ) is a melodrama by the Greek director Theo Angelopoulos .

Bruno Ganz plays the main role in the film about "Aging and saying goodbye to life " . Theo Angelopoulos was awarded the Palme d'Or in Cannes in 1998 for this film .

action

Thessaloniki : We observe the last day in the life (or before the hospitalization) of the exiled poet Alexander, suffering from cancer, who runs out of words to complete a poem of the 19th century. Alexander brings his daughter a letter from her mother and reminisces about his beloved wife. The man saves a little Albanian boy from human traffickers and spends his last day with the war orphan, in foggy landscapes, with music, dance and poetry . He can help him return to Albania and says goodbye to the boy late at night. After a few wrong turns, the film ends on the beach with a view of the sea.
