Ekkehard Knörer (2013)

Ekkehard Knörer (* 1971) is a German film critic , magazine editor and cultural scientist.

Life

Knörer studied English, German, philosophy and cultural studies at the University of Würzburg , the University of Texas at Austin and the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). With Bettine Menke he received his doctorate with a work entitled Witz und Ingenium in Rhetorik and Poetics of the 17th and 18th centuries . He then started a postdoc project entitled The Art of Appropriation: Appropriation and Remake at the Graduate College “The Figure of the Third” at the University of Konstanz . As a visiting fellow, he conducted research at New York University (2001) and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore (2006). He also held teaching positions (literature and film studies) at the universities of Frankfurt (Oder), Erfurt, Konstanz and the Free University of Berlin.

Ekkehard Knörer is co-founder, publisher and editor of Cargo magazine , editor and co-editor of Merkur magazine since 2017 . Until 2011 he wrote the film column “Im Kino” for the online magazine Perlentaucher , and writes regularly, including the bi-weekly DVD column “dvdesk”, for the taz . Also articles for “ Kolik ”, “new filmkritik” and others. a. Numerous articles in scientific journals and edited volumes. In 2016 he received the Siegfried Kracauer Prize for film criticism.
