Mateo Gil

Mateo Gil Rodríguez (born September 23, 1972 in Las Palmas ) is a Spanish screenwriter and director .

Mateo Gil worked repeatedly with Alejandro Amenábar , with whom he had a personal friendship.

In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.

Awards

  • Gil received the City of Alcalá Award for Allanamiento de morada at the 1998 Alcalá de Henares Short Film Festival . In the same year he received the Canal + Audience Award of the Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente de Ourense for the film . At the Festival Internacional de Cinema do Algarve and the Montréal World Film Festival , Mateo and the film were nominated for further awards.
  • Together with Alejandro Amenábar , Mateo Gil won the Goya in 2005 for the best original screenplay for The Sea in Me ( Mar adentro ). The year before, the couple had been nominated for a European Film Award for the film. The film received a further nomination for a CEC Award in the category of best original script from the Spanish Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos
