Marcelo Piñeyro

Marcelo Piñeyro (born March 5, 1953 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is an Argentine film director , producer and screenwriter.

biography

He studied at the La Plata School of Art . Together with Luis Puenzo , he founded an advertising company in 1980. He was responsible for producing Puenzo's Oscar- winning film The Official Story .

In 1993 he published his first directorial work, Tango feroz , and won prizes at film festivals for it. His next films also received numerous awards. So were Cenizas del paraíso and Burnt Money - Plata quemada with the Goya in the category Best Foreign Film in Spanish appreciated. His greatest success so far is the film Burnt Money - Plata quemada , which, based on a novel by Ricardo Piglia, depicts the experiences of two homosexual criminals between soft eroticism and action mood.

Piñeyro wrote the scripts for most of his films. In 2006 he received the Goya for the screenplay for El Método .
