The Pangert (2,550 m) is a prominent peak in the Tux Alps in Tyrol .
It protrudes with a sharp ridge from the Rastkogel massif (2,762 m) far to the east (almost 3 km) and offers an impressive sight from the lower Zillertal and the Gerlos pass road.
The unforested Rastkogel massif, criss-crossed by rock faces, is strongly structured and has three distinct branches to the west, north and east, of which the Pangert represents the latter. The other two “outposts” Hirzer (2,725 m, to the east) and Gilfert (2,505 m, in the direction of the Inn Valley ) have similarly rugged shapes, the rocky slopes of which, despite different ridge courses, are mainly oriented north-south - a consequence of the directional shifts during the unfolding of the Alps.
