location

Brückrachdorf is located southeast of the city center. To the east of Brückrachdorf is the local community Marienhausen, which is still in the Neuwied district and in the Westerwaldkreis the local communities Marienrachdorf and Krümmel , to the west is the Giershofen district .

history

Brückrachdorf was originally called Brücken- or Bruchenrachdorf, d. H. the Rachdorf lying in the Bruche or in a swamp , in contrast to Freirachdorf (free of taxes) and Marienrachdorf (formerly Mergenrachdorf). The name Rachdorf is interpreted in different ways: One explanation points to a founder "Racho", another says that Rachdorf can be equated with "Grenzdorf". From the end of the 17th century there are also names such as "Burgrachdorf" or "Burggrafendorf."

Brückrachdorf is mentioned for the first time in a document from 1344, according to which Count Wilhelm I of Wied and Isenburg (1324-1383) sold his possessions in the Dierdorfer Land to the Archbishop of Trier and Elector Baldwin of Luxembourg .

Incorporation

As part of the regional reform in Rhineland-Palatinate, which took effect on June 7, 1969 , the previously independent local community of Brückrachdorf was incorporated into the city of Dierdorf and has been a district of Dierdorf since then.
