Elgert is a district of Dierdorf in the district of Neuwied in northern Rhineland-Palatinate with an area of 552 hectares and 419 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2006).

Elgert is located north of the city center at an altitude of 280 to 327 m above sea level. NHN . To the west of Elgert is the local community of Raubach, which is still in the Neuwied district , to the east is the local community of Maroth in the Westerwaldkreis .
history
Elgert was first mentioned in a document in 1301. Elgert is an old clearing place like the surrounding villages Maroth , Hanroth , Goddert and Hilgert . "Elgeroth" can be assumed as the previous name.
Originally Elgert belonged to the County of Sayn and until 1584 to the parish Roßbach (Westerwald) . After the introduction of the Reformation in the county of Sayn, the inhabitants were first Lutheran and later reformed . After the division of the County of Sayn in the 17th century, Elgert belonged to the County of Sayn-Hachenburg .
Until 1815 Elgert belonged to the parish of Freirachdorf and was then assigned to the parish of Raubach .
Incorporation
As part of the territorial reform in Rhineland-Palatinate that took effect on March 17, 1974 , the previously independent local community of Elgert was incorporated into the city of Dierdorf and has been a district of Dierdorf since then.
politics
According to the main statute, the Elgert district is a local district of the city of Dierdorf and has its own local advisory board and a local councilor .
The town council in Elgert consists of seven members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Manuel Seiler became Mayor of Elgert in July 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for a further five years with 92.70% of the vote. Manuel Seiler's predecessor was Karl-Heinz Schneider.
