Hilgert im Kannenbäckerland is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Höhr-Grenzhausen community .

Geographical location

Hilgert is located about 13 kilometers northeast of Koblenz on the edge of the Nassau Nature Park . The community is located on the Masselbach .

The Faulbach district as well as the Hüttenrain and Jagdhaus residential areas belong to Hilgert .

history

The place or the Hofgut "Hilgenrode" was first mentioned in a document in 1349, when "Heymart von der Linden", a monastery brother " zu Laach ", killed the cousin of "Lupreich von Hilgert". As atonement, a “pension” was to be paid for an “eternal light” in the Alsbach church .

Uwe Schmidt (SPD) became local mayor of Hilgert on June 24, 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for another five years with 69.68 percent of the votes cast.

Schmidt's predecessors were Wolfgang Gelhard (Mayor 2004–2014) and Günter Schwaderlapp (1988–2004).
