Hellenhahn-Schellenberg is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rennerod .

The community is located in the Westerwald between Siegen and Limburg an der Lahn .
The Eichelhof, Brückenhof, Marienhof and Jagdhaus Oberhirzberg residential areas also belong to Hellenhahn-Schellenberg .
history
Hellenhahn was first mentioned in a document in 1062 as Hildenhagen . Schellenberg, 220 years younger, was united with Hellenhahn in 1831 by order of Duke Wilhelm von Nassau . Since then the community has been called Hellenhahn-Schellenberg.

Municipal council
The council in Bright-Schellenberg consists of 16 council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the volunteer local mayor as chairman. In the previous elections up to 2009, the council members were elected in a personalized proportional representation.

Birgit Schmidt became the local mayor of Hellenhahn-Schellenberg in 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, she was confirmed in her office for another five years with a share of the vote of 86.99%.
Schmidt's predecessors were Horst Henne (CDU) from 1991 to 2014, and before that Herbert Hering.

The SV Blau Weiß Hellenhahn-Schellenberg was founded on April 1st, 1920, in which football , handball , batting and athletics were initially practiced . After the end of the Second World War, it was re-established in October 1945 and joined the Rhineland Football Association . The club currently consists of the football and table tennis departments (each active in regional leagues) and gymnastics. The sports home, built in 1978, was replaced by a multi-purpose building in 2013.
Regularly taking place traditional events are the potato festival and the fair , whereby both festivals alternate in an annual rhythm.
