Gehlert is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Hachenburg community .

Geographical location

The community is located in the Westerwald between Limburg and Siegen , about two kilometers south of Hachenburg , surrounded on all sides by the Hachenburg city forest . In the north of the village lies the old town , in the east the Lochumer Heide and the towns of Alpenrod and Nistertal , in the south Steinebach an der Wied and in the west Merkelbach and Höchstenbach . To the northwest of the village lies the Kapellchesberg ( 404  m ), in the south the Gietzebeul ( 494  m ), on the north side of which the Rothenbach rises, and in the southwest the Gräbersberg ( 513  m ).
