Salzburg is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rennerod .

Geographical location

The community is located in the Westerwald between Siegen and Limburg .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document around 1300 as Salberg . Salzburg has been part of the Emmerichenhain parish since the late Middle Ages, and with this part of the rulership of the Westerwald . By 1810 at the latest there was a branch school of the parish school.

In 1534, six people from Vogt and three Nassau-Beilsteiners were named as residents. In 1577 there were six compulsory houses, in 1607 six men and in 1643 two residents. In 1684 four houses were inhabited. In 1741 a total of 83 inhabitants is mentioned for the first time. In 1807 there were 131 inhabitants.
