Hahn am See is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Wallmerod Association .

history
Hahn am See, which was first mentioned as Hane as early as 1374 , is located on one of the oldest streets in Germany. The " Hohe Straße ", today's B 8 , can be traced back to the pre-Christian migration.
When there was a great water shortage in 1870, a pipe well was built to supply the population at that time, which was fed by a natural spring. The old fountain column has been preserved to this day and continues to donate its cool water.
On May 1, 1980, the community was renamed from "Hahn bei Wallmerod" to "Hahn am See".

Municipal council
The municipal council in Hahn am See consists of eight council members who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Doris Frink became mayor of Hahn am See on August 13, 2019. Since there were no applicants in the direct election on May 26, 2019, they were elected by the council in accordance with the municipal regulations.
Frink's predecessor Thomas Klein did not run again after ten years in office.

The center of the village is characterized by the more than 100 year old village linden tree and the listed church , built in 1726 in the Baroque style .
