coat of arms
The blazon reads: "Round shield divided by Göpelschnitt , in front in blue a red armored and tongued lion , behind in gold a green linden branch with nine leaves, below in red a silver scales ."
The linden branch symbolizes the "chair linden court" Winnen, which was responsible for nine tithes until the 17th century . This is what the nine linden leaves stand for . Furthermore, the jurisdiction is documented by the scales . The tongued lion shows that it belonged to the Nassau house , hence the golden and blue field colors, the house colors of Nassau. The red field color is reminiscent of the Westerburg counts , to whose rule the municipality of Winnen belonged for a long time, but also the blue field color.
