Unnau is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Bad Marienberg (Westerwald) community .

Geographical location

The community is located in the Westerwald between Limburg and Siegen . The Great Nister flows through the community . The districts are Unnau with the Struthof residential area , Korb with the Nistersägewerk residential area and Stangenrod. Neighboring towns are Zinhain in the east, Hardt in the south, Nistertal in the south-west and Hachenburg in the north-west of Unnau.

The place was first mentioned in a document in the year 1000.

On June 7, 1969, today's local community Unnau was formed from the previously independent communities Korb (282 inhabitants), Stangenrod (378 inhabitants) and Unnau (912 inhabitants).
