Obererbach is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Wallmerod Association .

Geographical location

Obererbach is located in the south of the Westerwald low mountain range at the transition from the natural spatial main unit group Westerwald in the north and west to the natural spatial main unit Limburg Basin in the east of Hesse . It is located 9.6 km east of Montabaur , 5.7 kilometers west of Hadamar and 9.2 kilometers (as the crow flies ) northwest of Limburg an der Lahn . The Erbach flows directly to the southwest . A few kilometers away are the Nassau Nature Park in the southwest and the Taunus Nature Park in the east . The south-southeastern neighboring village is Niedererbach .

Municipal council

The municipal council in Obererbach consists of twelve council members, who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote, and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Martin Schönfeld became local mayor of Obererbach on June 25, 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected for five years with a share of the vote of 52.51%.

Schönfeld's predecessor Reinhard Krämer did not run again after 18 years in office.

The next motorway junction is Montabaur on federal motorway 3 ( Cologne - Frankfurt am Main ), about seven kilometers away. The closest ICE stop is Montabaur train station on the Cologne – Rhein / Main high-speed line .
