Boden is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Montabaur community .
geography
The place is north of the A3 , five kilometers from Montabaur . The Ahrbach flows through the Boden district .
The residential areas at Niederahr station, Guterborn and Wiesenmühle also belong to Boden .
Neighboring communities include Ruppach-Goldhausen , Heiligenroth , Moschheim , Niederahr and Meudt .
history
Today's municipality of Boden lies in the area of the Humbach Bannes and parish (later called Montabaur), which was first described between 930 and 959 . The place was first mentioned in 1212 in the Liber annalium iurium , in which the extensive property of the Archbishops of Trier was recorded, under the name "Bodime".
According to a directory from 1548, Boden was one of seven villages that together formed the "Big Colliery". The "Große Zeche" was one of a total of 16 administrative districts ("Zechen") in the Electorate of Trier Montabaur . The administration of a colliery was one of Montabaurer bailiff used Heimburger transmitted. In addition to the village of Boden, the “Große Zeche” included the villages of Stude (today Staudt ), Bergenscheit ( Bannberscheid ), Lutterode ( Leuterod ), Oberoitzingen and Niederoitzingen ( Ötzingen ) and Muschheim ( Moschheim ). The entire colliery had 71 fireplaces in the middle of the 16th century ( Fuyrstette = households). In the Trier fire book of 1563 , eleven fire places are named for the village "Bodenn", which corresponds to about 60 inhabitants. Eight Trier , five Isenburg , one Reifenberg and one Steinkenterscher subjects (families) were counted.
The first chapel was built in 1716. The church “Maria Himmelfahrt”, built between 1914 and 1916, characterizes today's village.
Clay degradation plays an important role in the development of soil, the consequences of which are clearly visible around soil.

The vast majority of the population is Roman Catholic. In the village is the Church of the Assumption, which belongs to the parish Ruppach-Goldhausen / Boden in the diocese of Limburg . The approximately 70 Protestant Christians are looked after by the Evangelical Martin Luther Church Congregation in Wirges, which is part of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau .

- In the municipality, the ASV Boden is the sports club that offers wrestling and gymnastics as sports.
- The Sportfreunde Boden e. V. are active in the fields of table tennis, badminton and athletics. In 2012 the Sportfreunde Boden e. V. the 1st Bodener Brinkenlauf, a five-kilometer fun run through the district.

- Two “themed clay paths” lead along current and former clay mining sites through Boden and some neighboring communities and offer information about the “white gold” of the Westerwald.

- The next motorway junction is Montabaur on the federal motorway 3 Cologne - Frankfurt am Main .
- The Kannenbäckerstraße connects Boden with Neuhäusel and runs through the Kannenbäckerland .
- Boden is on the 116 regional bus route (Montabaur Adenauerplatz - Montabaur train station / FOM - Boden - Westerburg train station), which is operated by the Rhine-Moselle bus .
- The next connection to the railway traffic is the Montabaur station , which is on the high-speed line Cologne-Rhein / Main and the Unterwesterwaldbahn , there are long-distance trains in the direction of Cologne, Mainz / Wiesbaden and Frankfurt as well as the local trains of the RB 29 (Limburg (Lahn) - Diez East - Elz South - Montabaur - Wirges - Siershahn).
