Mündersbach is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Hachenburg community .
Geographical location
The community lies between Hachenburg and Herschbach and is surrounded by the forest areas Roßbacher Wald , Höchstenbacher Wald and Kuheck ( Marother Forest). Neighboring communities are Höchstenbach in the north, Schenkelberg in the east, Freirachdorf in the south and Roßbach in the west of the community. The Hartenfelser Kopf rises to the east . The Holzbach rises near Mündersbach .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1247 when Theodoric the Younger von Isenburg gave away his goods in Mündersbach.
Mündersbach belonged to the parish of Höchstenbach and until the end of the 18th century it belonged to the county of Sayn . After the introduction of the Reformation in the county of Sayn, the inhabitants were first Lutheran and later reformed. After the division of the County of Sayn in the 17th century, Mündersbach belonged to the County of Sayn-Hachenburg .
In 1799 the county came to the princes of Nassau-Weilburg by inheritance . In connection with the formation of the Rhine Confederation , the region and with it Mündersbach came to the newly established Duchy of Nassau in 1806 . Under the Nassau administration, Mündersbach was assigned to the Hachenburg office. After the annexation of the Duchy of Nassau, the place came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1866 and from 1868 belonged to the province of Hessen-Nassau and the Oberwesterwaldkreis . Mündersbach has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .

Municipal council
The council in Mündersbach consists of twelve council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Helmut Kempf became the local mayor of Mündersbach on May 1, 2011. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for another five years with a share of the vote of 83.89%.
Kempf's predecessor Winfried Himmerich had given up the office in 2011 for health reasons.

Mündersbacher Church
The church building was built in 1901/1902 as a two-class elementary school . After the school reform in 1973 and the end of school operations in Mündersbach, the parish acquired the building and converted it into a church.

- The community is located directly on the B 413 from Bendorf to Hachenburg .
- The next motorway junctions are in Dierdorf , Neuwied and Ransbach-Baumbach on the A3 Cologne - Frankfurt am Main , each around 15 kilometers away.
- The closest ICE stop is Montabaur train station on the Cologne – Rhein / Main high-speed line . The trains can reach both urban centers in 30 to 40 minutes.
Public facilities
The community has a sports field with floodlights and a tennis facility with three courts. The children of the village have fun on public football fields and playgrounds. The local community Mündersbach maintains a community hall (multi-purpose hall) and a kindergarten in municipal sponsorship.
