history

Eitelborn was first mentioned in a document in 1325.

Around 1300, the Helfensteiners, who were ministerials in the service of the Archbishop of Trier, came into the possession of the manor “Denzinrode” (today Denzerheide) near Eitelborn. In 1310 Heinrich von Helfenstein built the Sporkenburg, so named after the Bannforst, at a dominant point above the valley of the Emsbach. In the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) the French destroyed the castle, the ruins of which are now owned by Rhineland-Palatinate. The family of those von Pfaffendorf with the sideline of the Meinefelder von Ehrenbreitstein was enfeoffed with the village Eitelborn in 1325 and 1375. These were replaced by the Helfensteiners in 1440. The lords of the Sporkenburg, the Wentz von Niederlahnstein (since 1524) and the Boos von Waldeck (since 1729) were involved in the Eitelborn Hubengericht.

Eitelborn, which has had its own Church of the Assumption since 1925, broke away from the Catholic parish of Arzbach in 1953. The pastor Quernheim and the church calculator Johann Wilhelm Simon (after whom a street to the church was named) played a decisive role in the construction of the church in Eitelborn.

From 1965 until the founding of the association community in 1972, the local communities Eitelborn and Neuhäusel merged to form a joint mayor's office. Their seat was Eitelborn with a branch in Neuhäusel. The mayor at that time was the later First Alderman of the Montabaur community, Heinz Reusch.

In 1967 the Augst -gemeinde Eitelborn was chosen as the “ most beautiful village ”.
