Around 1800, most of the area belonged to the abbey. With the ending -hausen, Streihausen is one of the oldest settlements in this area. A mill near the village is first mentioned in 1842. Streithausen had twelve houses in 1579, twelve fireplaces in 1624, 23 men in 1714, 105 in 1760 and 135 in 1818.

The Lords of Nister also owned a former tower hill castle ( Motte Streithausen ), which was located on the northern outskirts of the village, directly on the Kleine Nister. The 1000 year old castle was the center of the old manor Nister. The 12 m diameter hill on which the tower stood and the moat have been preserved.
