coat of arms

Coat of arms of Neustadt / Westerwald
Blazon : “In gold an obliquely left, blue wave bar; above a red-armored, black eagle looking to the left (growing out of the wavy beam with the left claw); below a six-spoke black mill wheel with twelve blades. "
Justification of the coat of arms: The wavy bar illustrates the location of the community on the Great Nister. The black eagle in gold - the imperial eagle - symbolizes today's communal corridor district of Forstwiese as a former imperial forest. The mill wheel stands for the two former mills in Neustadt, which milled for the Neustadt- Hellenhahn-Schellenberg mill district . The colors gold and blue are the coat of arms colors of Nassau (golden lion in blue) and refer to the former territorial affiliation of the municipality.
