history

Stockum was first mentioned in a document in 1235. The name may go back to the Old High German stoc for tree stump . The place belonged to the parish and court of Rotenhain from the second half of the 15th century at the latest . Stockum was removed from the parish in 1563 in the course of the Reformation and parish changed to Marienberg .

The Stockumer Mühle, built in 1547, is now in the district of Rotenhain. In 1801 there was a joint winter school for Stockum and Püschen.

The place was the origin of two noble families: those of Stockheim with the lily coat of arms are documented from 1235 to 1437. Their free float extended from Koblenz to Limburg an der Lahn . The von Krombach named von Stockum are mentioned from 1350 to 1421. Their possessions were limited to the Montabaur and Westerburg area.

Stockum-Püschen was re-formed on January 1, 1969 from the previously independent communities Stockum and Püschen.

In 1545 4 people liable for Turkish taxes were recorded in Stockum , in 1572 seven people were subject to taxation. In 1738 twelve fireplaces are mentioned, in 1809 and 1850 113 inhabitants each.
