Oberhaid is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Ransbach-Baumbach community .
geography
The community is located in the Westerwald between Koblenz and Siegen on the edge of the Kannenbäckerland . The Kleine Saynbach flows through the village and shortly afterwards flows into the Saynbach , which belongs to the catchment area of the Rhine . The Winterroth, Fuchsmühle and Lindenhof residential areas also belong to Oberhaid .

The village was first mentioned in 1376 as a heath .

Municipal council
The council in Oberhaid consists of eight council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Horst Albrecht Weggel became the local mayor of Oberhaid on June 27, 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected for five years with 59.63 percent of the votes cast. In mid-June 2020, Weggel announced that he would resign on July 1, 2020. Since the first alderman Horst Schenkelberg has already resigned, the second alderman Niklas Goeth is to take over the office until the new election and the inauguration of a successor.
Weggel's predecessor was Manfred Sabel.

traffic
The Federal Highway 3 and the ICE - high-speed line Cologne-Rhine / Main run through the municipality of Oberhaid. The next junction on the motorway is Ransbach-Baumbach (No. 38), about six kilometers southeast of the town center. The next train station on the high-speed line is Montabaur ; closer, however, is the Siershahn station on the Unterwesterwaldbahn .
