Ellenhausen (dialect: Ellehouse ) is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Selters (Westerwald) .
geography
Ellenhausen is three kilometers southwest of Selters (Westerwald) at the confluence of the Kleinem Saynbach and Sayn rivers in the middle of an extensive forest and meadow area. The community also includes the Berghof, Schneidmühle and Tannenhof residential areas .
history
In the year 1100 Ellenhausen was first mentioned in a document. The spelling of the name changed over the centuries from Elkinhusin to Helchinhusin to Ellenhausen .

Municipal council
The council in Ellenhausen consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman. Until 2014, the council had eight councilors.

Heinz Müller became the local mayor of Ellenhausen in 2014. In the 2019 municipal elections, he was confirmed in office for another five years with 83.02 percent of the votes cast.
Müller's predecessor Herbert Jäger held the office since 2004.
