Großholbach is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . The community belongs to the municipality Montabaur on.
Geographical location
The community is located in the Westerwald between Koblenz and Gießen on the edge of the Nassau Nature Park . The Holbach flows through Großholbach, which flows into the Ahrbach .
history
A prehistoric burial mound field in the forest between Großholbach and Ruppach indicates that the area was settled in the Iron Age (Hallstatt / Laténe period; approx. 4th - 6th century BC). The place is known as "Holenbach" as early as 1200. mentioned in a document.
