Geographical location

Brandscheid lies on a mountain slope in the extensive forest area five kilometers west of Westerburg .

The Mühlenbach residential area also belongs to Brandscheid .

Municipal council

The council in Brandscheid consists of twelve council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman. In the 2014–2019 electoral period, the municipal council consisted of eight councilors, as the number of inhabitants according to the Rhineland-Palatinate municipal electoral law was below the limit on the reporting date.

Erhard Meutsch became mayor of Brandscheid on July 16, 2004. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for a further five years with a share of the vote of 83.13%.

Erhard Meutsch's predecessor as mayor was Helmut Schäfer.
