The next larger cities are Siegen (29 kilometers north), Wetzlar (28 kilometers east) and Limburg an der Lahn (29 kilometers south). history
The place was first mentioned in a document around 1300. The place has been part of the parish Emmerichenhain since the Middle Ages and with this the rulership of the Westerwald . There is evidence of its own chapel from around 1440. It had the only churchyard in the parish, with the exception of the central church in Emmerichenhain. A schoolhouse is first mentioned in 1737 in connection with its impending collapse. In 1741 a new schoolhouse built by the community with a chapel on the upper floor was completed.
In the year 1534 five Vogtleute and 15 Nassau-Beilsteiner owners are mentioned in the place and in 1577 eleven houses with compulsory service. In 1607 18 men are mentioned and in 1643 there are 36 inhabitants. In 1711 there were 30 families, in 1750 there were 243 inhabitants and in 1807 there were 342 inhabitants. In 1828 22 craftsmen and traders were registered in the village.

coat of arms
Blazon : “In the shield there is a bent piece of göpel, split by blue and silver; in front a blue stylized half-timbered building in gold; in the back, two silver cogwheel quarters next to each other in green, an upright golden ear of wheat covering two superimposed arcs. " | |
Culture and sights
The town hall of Rehe is a half-timbered house from the early 18th century with carved foliage ornaments on the posts and on the wooden door. On the upper floor there is a Protestant prayer room with benches and a pulpit from 1741. Pastor Dr. Johann Heinrich Manderbach (1699–1767) built it as a Latin school.
Several half-timbered houses testify to the typical Westerwald agriculture: The roof is only drawn down on one or two sides. The contemporary single-family houses in Rehes are also partly based on this traditional construction method.
The Westerwaldsteig , which opened in May 2008, leads through deer . Through this connection and new restaurants in the historic half-timbered houses, the place experiences a touristic upgrade.
