Nister-Möhrendorf is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rennerod .
Geographical location
The community is located in the Westerwald between Siegen and Limburg an der Lahn . The Great Nister flows through the village .
history
Both places were first mentioned in a document around 1300. The union of the two places took place on January 1, 1829.
Both villages have been part of the parish of Emmerichenhain since the Middle Ages and with this part of the rulership of the Westerwald . By 1810 at the latest there was a branch school of the parish school.
In 1534 three Vogtle people and a Nassau-Beilsteiner Eigenmann are named as residents of Nister, in 1607 four men. In 1635 the place was uninhabited, probably as a result of the Thirty Years War. In 1665 Nister is listed as inhabited again for the first time, with ten residents. In 1711 there were four families, in 1750 42 inhabitants and 1807 76 inhabitants. For Möhrendorf, five Vogtleute and three Nassau-Beilsteiner owners are mentioned in 1534, in 1607 seven men. In 1643 there were nine inhabitants, in 1711 eight families, in 1750 66 and 1807 117 inhabitants.

The council in Möhrendorf consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman. Until 2014, the council had eight councilors.

- The federal road 414 , which connects Herborn with Hachenburg , runs directly through the municipality . This crosses in the immediate vicinity of the village with the B 54 , which connects Limburg an der Lahn with Siegen .

- The closest ICE stop is Montabaur train station on the Cologne – Rhein / Main high-speed line .
