Untershausen is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Montabaur community .

Geographical location

The community is located in the Westerwald south of Montabaur in the Nassau Nature Park .

Municipal council

The municipal council in Untershausen consists of eight council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Cornelia Baas became the local mayor of Untershausen in 2009. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, she was confirmed in her office for another five years with a share of 63.85% of the votes.

Cornelia Baas' predecessor, Siegfried Gilles, held the office from 1999 to 2009.

Justification of the coat of arms: The two red roses with green sepals and silver lugs indicate in the Isenburg colors the first documentary mention. In the colors for law and wisdom, the roses are also reminiscent of the old Isenburg court court as a symbol of jurisdiction. The silver roof with its distinctive turret stands in the red tip for the old bakery in Untershausen. The three-leaved beech branch with its green tinge stands for the forest and the Untershausen district.

Economy and Infrastructure

The next motorway junction is Montabaur on the A3 ( Cologne - Frankfurt am Main ), about seven kilometers away.
The closest ICE stop is Montabaur station on the high-speed route Cologne – Rhine / Main or Koblenz main station on the right-hand Rhine route .
