history

Leuterod's history goes back a long way. Archaeological finds on the Malberg prove the existence of a Celtic ring wall (cult site), which dates from around 800 to 600 BC. Was built on the Malberg.

Leuterod is mentioned for the first time in 1362 as Wendel de lutereide . A little earlier, namely as early as 1311, the district of Hosten is mentioned as Hovesteden . At this time Leuterod and Hosten were in the Montabaurer Pfarrsprengel (parish), with which the Lords of St. Florin in Koblenz had the tithe rights . In 1563, 12 “fireplaces” (families) were counted in Leuterod. 120 years later, due to the terrible effects of the Thirty Years War , it was just one more. According to legend, the place was completely destroyed during this time and rebuilt in another place. According to this legend, the Altendorfer Weg should be the route to the old location of the place. Leuterod was part of the Electorate of Trier until 1803 , then came to the Duchy of Nassau and then in 1866 to Prussia .

It should also be emphasized that an Erbenmühle (flour mill) in the municipality of Leuterod was mentioned as early as 1563.
