Linden is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Hachenburg community .

Geographical location

The place is north-northeast of Koblenz between Hachenburg in the north-northwest and Westerburg in the southeast, not far northeast of the Westerwald lake district . The highest point in the community is the Wildenhahn ( 499  m above sea  level ), which rises around 650 m northwest of Linden. Directly north of the village is the source of the Wied (an eastern tributary of the Rhine ), which passes Linden immediately to the east towards the south or Dreifelder Weiher .

Neighboring towns are Lochum in the northeast, Rotenhain in the east and Dreifelden in the southwest.

history

Like many communities in the Westerwald, Linden was created as a clearing site for arable farming. First mentioned in a document in 1586, but what is certain is that Linden already existed around 1315.

Tourism and sightseeing

In the immediate vicinity of the village towards Lochum is the enclosed source of the Wied. From here, numerous hiking trails branch off into the region. There is a golf course near the village.

Linden is connected to the regional transport network via the B 8 . This federal road connects the place with the middle centers Hachenburg (ten kilometers) and Altenkirchen (24 kilometers). The A 3 Ransbach-Baumbach and Dierdorf motorway junctions can be reached via the B 8 / B 413 , and the Hennef junction of the A 560 via the B 8.
