Prophecy is the fourth studio album of Metal - band Soulfly . It was released on Roadrunner Records in March 2004 .
Origin and style
In the course of the recording of Prophecy there were some changes in the band's line-up. So drummer Joe Nunez rejoined the band, who had already played with Primitive . Megadeth bassist David Ellefson can be heard on bass on some tracks , while Bobby Burns, previously with Primer 55 , recorded the others . On the band's website, Max Cavalera stated that he had planned the changes for a long time. On every Soulfly album, line-up changes are the order of the day, he wants to continue:
“This is an idea that I had in mind for a long time. I never wanted Soulfly to be a band like Metallica , always with the same four people. We've changed the line-up on every Soulfly album, and it probably will continue to do so. I always want to get to know new musicians and play with them. "
However, he then stuck to the cast of this album for some time. The album shows influences from world music and reggae ( Moses ). Such a mix of styles had already existed on Roots . In the Meantime is a cover by Helmet . The album cover was designed by the tattoo artist Leo Zulueta .
reception
Boris Kaiser awarded nine out of ten points in Rock Hard magazine . He described the album as "the best piece of music from the Sepultura / Soulfly environment since the completely uncompromising '91 state-of-the-art Thrash classic Arise ."
