Conquer is the sixth studio album of Metal - band Soulfly . It was released on Roadrunner Records in July 2008 .
Origin and style
Conquer was recorded with Tim C. Lau in Orlando , Florida in September 2007 . The record was mixed in early 2008 by Andy Sneap . The album was influenced by bands like Slayer , Bolt Thrower and Napalm Death . Also Pantera - at Single Unleash , with commentary by Dave Peters ( Throwdown ) - or Metallica Hit the Lights are cited. In Blood Fire War Hate , David Vincent from Morbid Angel took over the guest vocals. Cavalera said about the musical direction: “After Cavalera Conspiracy , I wanted to write a stronger, uncompromised statement with Soulfly. What I [did] on this album is what I was aiming for. This is the Soulfly album that I've been trying to make for a long time. “The album cover was designed by the tattoo artist Leo Zulueta .
reception
Ronny Bittner awarded eight out of ten points in Rock Hard magazine . He wrote that when you listen to “some tracks are most likely from the same songwriting session as the Inflikted material . However, this raises the question of why the songs are released under two band names, because the pieces could have been on the Cavalera Conspiracy debut in this form. Although: not quite. Because compared to Inflikted, Conquer’s song material clearly draws the short straw a few times, and you also have a few inconclusive numbers on board. Inflikted , on the other hand, is often more original, thrilling and compact. "
