Roy Moreira "Maurice" Mayorga Santos (born April 6, 1970 in New York City , New York ) is an American drummer .

Career

Mayorga was active in various bands such as Shelter , Nausea and Crisis from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s . On the first Soulfly album from 1998 he can be heard as a drummer. From 1999 Mayorga was part of Medication (formerly Pale Demons ) for two years and played briefly for Ozzy Osbourne's band in 2000 , before joining Ankla in 2001 and temporarily returning to Soulfly in 2002. Mayorga recorded a demo with the band Mothra , founded in 2002 and renamed Abloom in 2003 and featuring former members of Onesidezero , Amen and Snot . In 2005, Mayorga announced that he was leaving, despite his assurances that he would give this band priority over all other activities.

Mayorga was involved in the Roadrunner United project in 2005 on three songs under the direction of Dino Cazares . In 2006 Mayorga played temporarily for Sepultura during a European tour after their longtime drummer left. In the same year he joined Stone Sour as a permanent member. At Amebix , which was reunified in 2008 , Mayorga is the substitute for the founding member who suffered from tinnitus , and in 2013 he took over the position of their previously deceased drummer at Channel Zero .

Mayorga continues to work as a music producer and sound engineer and writes film music . Mayorga is an endorser of Drum Workshop and Sabian , previously he cooperated with Zildjian .
