Tony Campos
Tony Campos (born March 8, 1973 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American bassist of Mexican descent. He became known through the music groups Static-X , Asesino , Ministry , Prong , Soulfly and Fear Factory .
Life
Before Campos became a musician, he worked as a shepherd. In 1994 the Mexican American became a member of the band Static-X , where he also sang in the background and was the only constant member of the band alongside frontman Wayne Static until 2010. In 2002 he founded with Fear Factory - guitarist Dino Cazares and the later Possessed - drummer Emilio Marquez the Deathgrind band Asesino (in German: assassin ). There he also works as a lead singer under the name Maldito X. The band mostly writes lyrics in Spanish .
In 2007 Campos temporarily joined Ministry for the late bassist Paul Raven until they broke up in 2008 . Campos has been part of the groove metal band Prong since 2009 . Again, he took the place of Raven. At the beginning of 2010, after 16 years, he left Static-X for unknown reasons. In 2011 Tony Campos also became bassist for Soulfly . In the same year the reunification of Ministry took place, where Campos was again active and was involved in the comeback album Relapse . At the beginning of 2012 he left the band, but was still part of the following Ministry tour. In 2015 Campos left Soulfly to join Fear Factory .
