Paul Raven

Paul Vincent Raven (born January 16, 1961 in Wolverhampton , † October 20, 2007 in France ) was a British bassist . He became known through his work with Killing Joke and Ministry .

Career

Raven started with Neon Hearts in 1979 and then played with the band Kitsch . After the bassist Martin Youth Glover left the band Killing Joke in 1983 after a dispute with the singer Jaz Coleman and his representative Guy Pratt could not assert himself, Raven joined Killing Joke and was involved in the creation of the album Fire Dances . Raven stayed with Killing Joke for eight years and was responsible for the bass riff on the # 16 hit Love Like Blood in 1985 . In total, Raven worked on five albums by the group during these years. The 1985 album Night Time reached the top spot in the UK charts with eleventh place.

After leaving Killing Joke in 1990, Paul Raven was with Murder Inc. (1991-1992), briefly with Pigface (1992) and then switched to Prong , where he worked on two albums (1993-1996) before joining Zilch (1996-1998) contributed. He also worked as a music producer. He later played with Godflesh (2002) and Society 1 (2003) before returning to Killing Joke in 2003 and collaborating on two of the band's new albums. He then moved to Chicago, where he joined the band Ministry and played with them their last studio album The Last Sucker . In 2006 he was nominated for a Grammy in the category "Best Metal Performance" for his work with Ministry .

In 2007 Raven took part in recordings of the French industrial band Treponem Pal in Geneva . He died of a heart attack on October 20, 2007.

In 2009 the album Holy City Zoo by the project band Mob Research was released , in whose creation Raven was involved.
