Omen is the seventh studio album of Metal - band Soulfly . It was released by Roadrunner Records in May 2010 . It was the last with bassist Bobby Burns and drummer Joe Nunez , who were then replaced by Tony Campos and David Kinkade .
Origin and style
The album was recorded in November 2009 with Logan Mader ( Machine Head ). At this point Max Cavalera had "Skeletons" of about eight songs ready. The pieces should be “more energetic” and shorter than on the previous Conquer . Tommy Victor von Prong (on Lethal Injection ), with whom Soulfly had recently toured , and Greg Puciato from Dillinger Escape Plan (on Rise of the Fallen ) worked on the album . Cavalera's son Zyon also played drums on the Sepultura title Refuse / Resist (by Chaos AD ), which was used as a bonus track . Max Cavalera's brother Igor played drums on the Excel cover Your Life, My Life , also a bonus track. The album cover was designed by the tattoo artist Leo Zulueta .
reception
Ronny Bittner awarded seven out of ten points in Rock Hard magazine . He wrote that the differences to the predecessor were "marginal, with the really fat Thrash whip being brought out much less often than on" Conquer ". What remains are solid, but rarely outstanding compositions. "
