Tommy Victor , actually Thomas M. Victor , is an American singer and guitarist who became known as the lead singer and guitarist of Prong and who is or was active for Danzig and Ministry , among others .

Career

In the 1980s, Victor worked as a mixer in the CBGBs club in New York City . In 1983 he founded the NYHC band Antidote with his then roommate Robert Ortiz , which split up in 1986. In the same year he founded the then hardcore playing band Prong with the CBGB bouncer Mike Kirkland as bassist . In an interview in 1994 Victor said that in his years as a mixer he often earned more than with Prong, although he released albums with the band on the major label Epic Records from 1990 onwards .

In 1995 he played on the album Misguided by the industrial rock supergroup Argyle Park , where he also contributed the main riff to the song Doomsayer . After Prong broke up in 1996, Victor moved to Los Angeles . He joined Danzig , where he first played the tour for the album Blackacidevil in 1996 and 1997 . He also worked for Rob Zombie , Marilyn Manson , Trent Reznor and Glenn Danzig's solo project. From 2003 to 2005 he was again a member of the band Danzig, and then again from 2008. He also played the 2010 Deth Red Sabaoth . He also recorded three albums for Ministry from 2005 to 2008, including a. Rio Grande Blood . He also played bass on The Last Sucker (2007). In 2010 he also contributed guest vocals to the Soulfly album Omen . In addition, Tommy Victor contributed the guitar parts for the album Black Laden Crown von Gdansk , released in May 2017 , as on almost all Gdansk releases since 2004.

style

Victor is particularly known for his precise rhythm guitar, but also solo playing, but especially for the use of double bends and so-called "artificial harmonics". Victor named Gang of Four as an influence for the latter .
