David Kinkade (born August 25, 1983 ) is a former drummer in the band Borknagar and worked for the band Soulfly .

history

David Kinkade was born in New Jersey in 1983 . He began playing the drums at the age of three when his grandfather gave him his drums.

He is known for his fast hand and double bass technique. Kinkade is not limited to the metal area. He is also experienced in the fields of jazz , fusion , progressive rock , swing and rock .

His main influences are Metallica , Pink Floyd , Kiss , Iron Maiden , Sepultura , Immortal , Emperor and Devin Townsend Project . Kinkade is led by drummers Gavin Harrison , Horacio "El Negro" Hernández , Nick Barker , Mike Mangini , Hellhammer , Nick Mason , Carmine Appice , Vinnie Appice , Dave Lombardo , Nicko McBrain , Peter Criss , Eric Singer , Eric Carr , Neil Peart , Lars Ulrich and Pete Sandoval strongly influenced.

In August 2011 he was announced as the new drummer for the band Soulfly .

In October 2011 he separated from his previous band Borknagar .

Personal

In addition to his love of music, Kinkade is very active in animal welfare. In 2007 he founded the Metal 4 Pets Foundation , which speaks out against animal abuse. The goal of the foundation is the fight of the metal world against animal abuse.

Kinkade can also look back on eight years of professional private tuition. In the summer of 2008, he was working with 13 students, ages 7-13, on a middle school program that aimed to teach children with autism to play the drums and percussion .

He currently lives in Chicago .
