Shadow Zone is the third studio album of American alternative metal - band Static-X .
History of origin
After the tour of Static-X's second album Machine was completed, co-founder Ken Jay left the band. Static-X were without a drummer, but still wanted to record a new album. As a temporary replacement, studio drummer Josh Freese joined the band to record an album with them. After completing the recording, Nick Oshiro took over the post of drummer. The first single The Only was a later soundtrack contribution to the game Need for Speed: Underground . In 2004 the second single So was released. There were also music videos for both singles. Shadow Zone itself was released worldwide on October 7, 2003. It is their first album that does not contain any swear words and therefore does not have a Parental Advisory sticker on the cover. It was also the first Static X album that made it into the German charts and placed 79th. In the USA, around 302,000 copies have been sold to date.
reception
Conny Schiffbauer from Rock Hard said that the musical path that has now been taken has changed in favor of Static-X. It is also the musically most diversified album of their career to date. They awarded eight out of ten possible points. Frank Gaspari from Laut.de , however, said that some songs had embarrassing similarities to Static-X's role models. It only awarded two stars out of five.
