Amen is a punk rock / hardcore punk band from Los Angeles , California, founded in 1994 .

history

The formation was founded by Casey Chaos, singer and only permanent member, together with Paul Fig. In 1999 the band was expanded to include ex- Ugly Kid Joe drummer Shannon Larkin, ex- Snot members Sonny Mayo (guitar) and John "Tumor" Fahnestock (bass). The album Amen was released on the major label Roadrunner Records . The breakthrough came with the move to Virgin Records and the LP We Have Come for Your Parents that followed in 2000 . After three single releases, however, it became quiet around the outside of the band, but within the formation there was almost a falling out. Casey Chaos worked through the frustration of that time on Join, or Die , which was recorded with guitarists Matt Montgomery and ex- Black Halos Rich Jones, Scott S. Sorry (bass), and Luke Johnson (drums). During this period the band became extremely popular within the UK scene. Magazines like Metal Hammer and Kerrang! gave top marks for the already released records, awarded prizes and called the band to the new sound of the 21st century. Despite the separation from the Virgin Records label, the band played at several festivals in England in the summer of 2002.

Chaos met Daron Malakian , guitarist of System of a Down , at a festival in Australia in autumn . Malakian was enthusiastic about the Amen project and got Chaos to sign with his label EatUrMusic . In 2004 the album Death Before Musick was released .

Amen toured England for two months in the fall of 2007, and the band has been quiet since then.
