Onesidezero is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles , California , which was founded in 2000, disbanded in 2004 and has been active again since 2005.

history

The band was formed in 2000 by guitarist and singer Jasan Radford and guitarist Levon Sultanian. After several line-up changes, a stable line-up emerged alongside the duo with guitarist Brett Kane, drummer Rob Basile and bassist Cristian Hernandez. This was followed by appearances in local clubs, where the band was able to increase its popularity. A first demo was published in the summer of 2000 . Their recording contract with Madonna's label Maverick Records owes the group for most of their fan base that demo - MP3s of OneSideZero at Napster announced, attention was drawn causing the label to the group. In 2001 the album Is This Room Getting Smaller was released . The album was produced by Jim Wirt and David Bottrill . The release was followed by tours with 311 , Ozzy Osbourne and Incubus . In February 2002 they went on tour through the USA together with Soulfly and Static-X . In December 2004 the band played their last gig. Shortly afterwards, however, the group came together again and began working on the EP Songs from a Cardboard Box . In December 2006, Corporare Punishment announced that they had signed the group. Then began studio work with the producer Ulrich Wild . In 2007 a self-titled album was finally released.

style

Christian Graf wrote in his Nu Metal and Crossover Lexicon that the band plays Crossover , which is based on Alternative Metal . The debut album is characterized "by rough riffs , trance- like grooves and the successful coordination between melody and rhythm". Allmusic's Gary Hill noted in his review of Is This Room Getting Smaller that the band sounds influenced by Bush and Creed . The album shows a range of different influences, but this does not protect the album from quickly becoming monotonous. Amber Authier also reviewed the album, highlighting the use of three guitarists. The influence of producers Jim Wirt ( Incubus ) and David Bottrill ( Tool ) becomes clear in the songs . In his review of the self-titled album, Marcus Schleutermann from Rock Hard said that the group's “neo- grunge sound” had meanwhile been joined by influences from classic rock . So the group reminds in places of Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell . There are also ballads and "alternative rockers" on the album.
