Welkenbach is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Hachenburg community .

Geographical location

The 308  m high community is located in the Westerwald between Limburg an der Lahn and Siegen . Welkenbach is surrounded by the Wahlroder forest to the west and south ; Neighboring places are Wahlrod and Winkelbach in the north, Höchstenbach in the west and Roßbach (Westerwald) in the southwest of the place.

Welkenbach also includes the “Grube Eiskeller” and “Jagdhaus auf der Halde” residential areas .

Welkenbach was first mentioned in 1315 as Welkemerode . In the area there are former basalt and quartzite pits (in Wahlroder forest) and in the north an iron pit ( ice cellar ).
